Job summary

Cloudflare is seeking an experienced Egress Engineer to contribute to our edge network platform. You will design, implement, and deploy scalable networking features in Go or Rust, collaborating with multiple teams to deliver robust egress connectivity for products like WARP and iCloud Private Relay.

You'll own large sections of the system, participate in RFCs and design reviews, and help run production deployments.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, including ownership of architecture of complex, distributed systems.
• Demonstrated technical leadership beyond own code: RFCs and design reviews.
• Solid grasp of Networking protocols (Layers 3/4).
• Experience with HTTP, TLS, CDN networks.
• Experience building secure, highly-available distributed systems.
• Strong debugging, collaboration, and communication skills.
• Interest in HTTP networking / VPN technologies and network performance tuning.
• Willingness to adopt AI-assisted development tools in workflow.

Responsibilities

• Make daily progress on engineering tasks: design, specs, code via git, release plans.
• Participate in daily/ ad-hoc team meetings and on-call schedule.
• Investigate customer issues escalated to the Egress team.
• Respond to questions from other teams in internal/public chat.
• Use AI-powered tools to analyze codebases, production systems, and datasets.
