Job summary

Cloudflare is seeking an experienced software engineer to join the Egress team, shaping the network software infrastructure used by WARP and other products. You will collaborate with multiple engineering squads, translate requirements into scalable platform capabilities, and contribute across the full software lifecycle.

The role involves on-call duties and working with Go or Rust, Linux networking, and modern data tools.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on software engineering experience building distributed production systems.
• Proficiency in Go or Rust and a desire to improve in both.
• Solid grasp of networking protocols (OSI Layers 3-4).
• Knowledge of HTTP, TLS, and CDN networks.
• Experience implementing secure and highly-available distributed systems.
• Strong debugging skills in complex systems.
• Strong collaboration and communication abilities.
• Interest in HTTP networking and VPN technologies.
• Willingness to adopt AI tools in engineering workflows.

Responsibilities

• Make daily progress on design of systems, specs, code, release plans, and production rollouts.
• Attend daily and ad-hoc team meetings to share progress and collaborate.
• Participate in on-call rotations to ensure uptime of production systems.
• Investigate customer issues escalated to the Egress team for triage and resolution.
• Answer questions from other teams in internal/public channels.
• Leverage AI-assisted tools to analyze codebases and production data to accelerate problem solving.
