Job summary

Pivotal Solutions is seeking a seasoned software engineer for our Portsmouth, United States office. The role emphasizes building scalable software, shaping engineering practices, and contributing to high-growth team culture.

The candidate should have 5+ years in software engineering, strong SQL/NoSQL and REST/SOA experience, and proficiency in HTML/CSS, Git, CI/CD, and OOP design. This on-site role requires commuting to the office and legal work authorization in the U.S.

Qualifications

• 5 years of software engineering experience, with design, development and implementation of complex systems.
• 5 years of SQL and/or NoSQL experience.
• 2 years of REST/SOA experience.
• 2+ years of Scrum or Agile experience.
• Strong knowledge of code reviews, testing, coding standards, source control (Git and GitHub), and CI/CD.
• Proficiency in HTML and CSS; experience with software development lifecycle.

• Develop proficiency with our software development practices and patterns while solving problems.
• Demonstrate experience building team culture and engineering processes on high growth teams.
• Communicate effectively and give/receive feedback professionally.
• Exercise latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments.
• Contribute to analysis to translate requirements into code and design solutions.
• Help design solutions across data structures, system processes, services, and user interfaces.
• Manage ambiguity and adapt to changing business needs and priorities.
• Manage complexity by decoding large volumes of information to solve problems.
• Train peers including junior staff and technical support team members.
• Follow instructions, accept constructive criticism, and collaborate effectively in teams.
• Work with HTML/CSS and source control (Git) in a collaborative environment.
• Travel to offices as needed and be legally authorized to work in the United States.
