Job summary

Northern Trust in Chicago is seeking a Senior Analyst, Software Engineering to support critical enterprise applications. You will provide Level 2/3 support, investigate production issues, and contribute hands-on development using Java, Spring, and SQL in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires strong analytical and communication skills, the ability to partner with business stakeholders, and a customer-focused mindset to drive issues to resolution while delivering reliable, scalable software

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
2+ years of experience supporting and developing enterprise applications.
Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring/Spring Boot.
Strong SQL skills with experience troubleshooting and analyzing relational databases.
Experience debugging application issues across multiple tiers, including application, database, and integration layers.
Experience working in production support, application support, or DevOps-oriented environments.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and effectively engage with business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Provide Level 2 and Level 3 application support for critical business applications, ensuring timely investigation and resolution of production issues.
Partner with business users and stakeholders to understand issues, gather requirements, and provide ongoing systems guidance.
Perform root-causes analysis of application, data, and integration issues and implement sustainable solutions.
Develop, test, and deploy application fixes, enhancements, and minor features using Java and Spring-based technologies.
Analyze SQL queries, stored procedures, and database structures to diagnose data-related issues and improve system performance.
Participate in release validation, user acceptance testing, and production deployments.
Monitor application health and proactively identify opportunities to improve reliability, stability, and supportability.
Prepare technical documentation, operational procedures, and knowledge-sharing materials.
Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and business teams to ensure seamless delivery and support of applications.
Support project initiatives by contributing to requirements analysis, solution design, testing, and implementation activities.
Mentor junior team members and share technical expertise across the team.
