Job summary

Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield is seeking a Software Engineer open to senior-level hiring in Des Moines. You will design, develop, test, implement, and document software solutions supporting Wellmark’s technology initiatives, with opportunities to mentor and collaborate across an agile product team.

You will work on provider data and data pipelines, ensure data quality and security, and participate in continuous improvement through automation and scalable design.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field and at least 1 year of software development experience (Angular, NodeJS, TypeScript, C++, .NET, Java, SQL) OR 5+ years of related experience.
• Strong analytical problem-solving skills with accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to gather information, perform root-cause analysis and synthesize solutions using data.

Responsibilities

• Provide development and production support for key software applications.
• Contribute to architecture deliverables and translate diagrams into design specifications.
• Collaborate with UX to improve user experience and accessibility criteria.
• Resolve technical problems across on-premise, cloud-native, and hybrid apps.
• Analyze defects, propose remedies, and support ongoing optimization.
• Recommend solutions to meet project objectives and benefits realization.
• Identify issues, evaluate options, and escalate when needed.
• Communicate updates to leadership and stakeholders, fostering teamwork.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
