Job summary

Wellmark, Inc. is hiring a Software Engineer (Open to Sr. level) to join the Technology department in Des Moines, IA.

The role focuses on designing, developing, testing, implementing, and maintaining software that supports Wellmark’s healthcare initiatives and Total Cost of Care strategy. You will partner with Technology and Network Services teams to deliver scalable solutions, develop data pipelines, and ensure data quality, security, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field and at least 1 year of software development experience OR 5+ years of related experience.
• Strong analytical problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to gather information, research root causes, and propose solutions using data.

Responsibilities

• Provide development and production support for key software applications and systems.
• Contribute to solutions architecture and technical specifications for development teams.
• Collaborate with UX to improve user experience and accessibility.
• Resolve issues across on-premise, cloud-native, and hybrid deployments.
• Gather information and perform root-cause analysis for improvements.
• Propose solution options and communicate updates to stakeholders.
• Mentor teammates and model a positive, collaborative mindset.
• Maintain data quality, security, and regulatory compliance.
• Engage with cross-functional teams to deliver objectives.
