Job summary

AppFolio is hiring a Full Stack Senior Software Engineer to join the Affordable Housing team. You will own domain tasks, build scalable web solutions, and mentor peers in a fast-paced SaaS environment.

Ideal candidate has 5+ years in software engineering, experience with Rails, React, MySQL, AWS, and Agile practices, and a passion for delivering compliant, user-friendly housing solutions.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience developing web applications in an agile SaaS environment.
• Experience across all levels of the development stack.
• Familiarity with Ruby on Rails, React, MySQL, AWS, SOA.
• Familiarity with Agile processes: Scrum or Kanban.
• Familiarity with Test-Driven Development.
• Creativity and proactivity to solve complex problems without a roadmap.
• Willingness to learn new tech while reusing existing tools.
• Maintainability and refactoring mindset.
• Identify and resolve code smells via refactoring.

Responsibilities

• Build a deep understanding of the Affordable Housing segment to own the domain.
• Develop scalable, robust, and simple web-based solutions to solve complex business problems.
• Mentor and guide other software engineers.
• Implement new features and optimize existing ones for performance.
• Collaborate with QA, product owners, and designers in an agile team.
• Turn large problems into deliverables with limited WIP.
• Research and recommend new technologies and trends.
• Maintain engineering excellence through code reviews and best practices.
• Ensure thorough test coverage and rapid issue resolution.
