AppFolio in California is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to own and evolve the Affordable Housing SaaS domain, building scalable web apps and guiding the technical direction with a focus on maintainability.

You will work in a hybrid environment, collaborating with QA, product owners, and designers to deliver high-quality software, mentor teammates, and adopt modern engineering practices including TDD, CI, and refactoring.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience developing web applications in a SaaS environment.
• Experience across all levels of the development stack.
• Strong familiarity with Ruby on Rails, React, and AWS.
• Proficient in Agile software development processes: Scrum or Kanban.
• Proficient in Test-Driven Development (TDD).

Responsibilities

• Own domain understanding of Affordable Housing segment.
• Develop scalable web-based solutions and refactor where needed.
• Mentor other engineers.
• Implement new features and optimize performance.
• Collaborate with QA, product owners, designers; contribute to team culture.
• Work in an Agile fashion to deliver iteratively.
• Research and recommend new technologies.
• Uphold engineering excellence and participate in code reviews.
• Maintain test coverage and resolve escalations quickly.
