Coinbase, Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Access & Authorization team to shape secure login and access across Coinbase products. You'll design and operate authentication, OAuth flows, sessions, tokens, 2FA, and edge authorization to balance security with a smooth user experience.

You will build high-throughput Go services, emphasize observability, and lead cross-functional technical design for ambitious initiatives while mentoring peers and enabling product teams at scale.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend software engineering experience with Go or a comparable language.
• Experience designing secure APIs and token handling (OAuth, OpenID Connect, JWTs).
• Proficiency with gRPC, Protocol Buffers, and data stores like Redis or DynamoDB.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration and clear communication.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end design, implementation, and operation of auth capabilities (OAuth, sessions, tokens, 2FA, edge authorization).
• Build secure, low-latency Go services used across Coinbase products with strong observability and SLOs.
• Lead designs for complex initiatives like signed tokens, passkeys, biometric recovery, and mobile OAuth.
• Partner with product, security, fraud, and infra teams to balance user experience with security/regulatory needs.
• Create self-service tooling for safe adoption of access/authorization at scale.
• Mentor engineers through design reviews, pairing, and on-call participation.
