Job summary

Oshkosh Corporation seeks a Chief Engineer Principal - Software to drive the architecture of our cloud-native connected vehicle platform. You will shape backend services, APIs, and data pipelines for purpose-built fire, rescue, and industrial vehicles.

You will mentor engineers, establish coding standards, and collaborate with embedded teams, product owners and leaders to translate needs into scalable technical solutions that deliver measurable value and performance.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
• 8+ years of experience developing backend software and APIs for cloud native applications.
• Strong programming skills in C#, .NET Core or similar language.
• Experience with Azure cloud technologies, including Azure functions, Event Grid, Event Hub, Azure Web PubSub, and Azure Service Bus.
• Experience designing cloud data stores ADX, SQL, time-series data, and related data services such as CosmosDB and Redis.
• Experience deploying containerized services (Docker, Azure Container Apps), CI/CD and infrastructure as code such as GitHub Actions and Terraform Enterprise.
• Experience with managing and optimizing Azure cloud cost.
• Experience with event-driven architecture, messaging patterns and real-time data processing.

Responsibilities

• Architecture leadership - Lead the software architecture for connected vehicle’s Azure cloud platform across cloud backend, data, APIs, web and mobile integrations.
• Hands-on engineering - Develop cloud-native services, APIs, event-driven processing and data-intensive applications.
• Engineering excellence - Establish architectural and coding standards. Mentor engineers.
• Cross-functional delivery - Partner with embedded engineers, product owners and engineering leads to translate product needs into sound technical solutions.
• Platform optimization - Improve availability, latency, security, operational readiness and cost efficiency.
