Job summary

The New York City Department of Homeless Services (DHS) is recruiting one Supervisor II (Social Services) for Auburn Assessment Shelter within the Shelter Intake Division to supervise social services staff and oversee client intake and placement.

The role coordinates with shelter staff and community providers, reviews staffing schedules, and participates in case conferences and program reviews to improve services for homeless individuals and families.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and two years of full-time social casework experience, including at least one year in a supervisor capacity.
• Excellent writing and communication skills; proficient in computer applications.
• Proficiency with CARES.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision and technical assistance to the social services staff.
• Function as the liaison with shelter staff and community-based providers to facilitate client placement into alternative housing.
• Refer staff to the DHS Training Bureau to ensure social service staff receive adequate and ongoing training.
• Develop and monitor staffing schedules; prepare and review monthly reports on program activities and staff operations.
• Coordinate and participate in case conferences and internal/external meetings.
• Collaborate with DHS contracted sites and various agencies directly involved with providing services for the homeless.
• Monitor non-compliant clients and utilize Client Responsibility procedures when needed.
• Submit Client Responsibility cases for review and sanction, when applicable.
