Job summary

The New York City Department of Homeless Services (DHS) is hiring one (1) Supervisor I (Social Services) to supervise social services staff, maintain case records, and coordinate with DHS contracted sites and City agencies to help residents secure independent living.

Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree and one year of full-time social casework experience; strong writing, communication and computer skills; and proficiency with CARES. Evening hours are Sunday-Thursday 3pm-11pm.

Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree and one year of full-time satisfactory social casework experience.
• Strong writing, communication and computer skills are required; proficiency with CARES is preferred.
• This position may require civil service exam eligibility and related processes.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical assistance and supervision to the social services staff.
• Supervise staff in maintaining case records and ensuring continuum of care in mental health, employment, substance use and recreation.
• Ensure case records meet agency standards and NYSDSS requirements; keep records up to date.
