Dept. of Homeless Services in New York City seeks an Administrative Director of Social Services NM-I to lead the Adult Family Intake Center operations and supervise a diverse team.

The role focuses on managing intake, eligibility reviews, and the overall application process for temporary housing assistance. The incumbent will oversee investigations, referrals, and coordination with HRA, Diversion, and HERO units, while ensuring fair, compliant operations and robust reporting for leadership

Qualifications

• A baccalaureate degree and four years of progressively responsible experience, including one year at the administrative or managerial level in a large governmental agency, business firm, civic or community organization operating in the area of social services.
• Education and/or experience equivalent to "1" above. However, all candidates must have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and the one year of experience at the administrative or management level as described in "1" above.

Responsibilities

• Assist in managing, overseeing, and supervising the Adult Family Intake Center and the application/eligibility process for all Adult Families requesting temporary housing assistance with DHS during the shift.
• Supervise the Intake Unit, including client flow, referrals, and the complete application process.
• Oversee investigations and assessments involving potential fraudulent or improper practices and maintain records and reports for the AFIC Unit.
• Provide direct supervision of social services, facilities management, transportation, medical access, food services, AFIC initiatives/events and security during the shift.
• Oversee policy application, CARES implementation and staff training to ensure compliance with federal/state mandates and efficient operations.
