Job summary

United Rentals is seeking a senior data engineer to serve as the primary Snowflake administrator for Discovery accounts. You will design and maintain data pipelines, monitor performance and cost, and partner with BI and data teams to ensure data quality and timely delivery.

You will also enable AI copilots, manage security policies, and document architecture, runbooks, and data lineage for ongoing production readiness.

Qualifications

• Must have a bachelor’s degree in a technical field; master’s preferred.
• 5+ years of data engineering, database administration, or BI experience.
• Hands-on Snowflake production experience and multi-account architecture.
• Strong SQL and data ingestion/ETL tool experience.
• Familiarity with AI/LLM enablement and agent-based architectures.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary Snowflake administrator for Discovery accounts and manage users, RBAC, and security policies.
• Design, build, and maintain data pipelines and semantic views across data layers.
• Monitor health, performance, cost, and ensure SLAs; troubleshoot data quality issues.
• Collaborate with source owners and BI teams; document pipelines and data lineage.
• Enable AI copilots and integration with Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, and Cortex agents.
• Ensure platform architecture, runbooks, and knowledge base are up to date.
