Job summary

Kong, the leader in API connectivity, is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to join the Platform SRE team. You will operate and scale Kong's global SaaS platform (Konnect) across AWS, GCP, and Azure, designing automated, reliable systems and securing deployments.

The role emphasizes hands-on engineering, multi-region Kubernetes, Terraform/Terragrunt, Helm, ArgoCD, and GitOps workflows. You will improve observability with Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, and Thanos, participate in on-call

Qualifications

BS in Computer Science or equivalent field.
Experience managing SaaS or PaaS systems at enterprise scale.
Deep Kubernetes debugging and fault-tolerant design.
Proficient with Terraform/Terragrunt for IaC.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and GitOps workflows.

Responsibilities

Operate and scale Kong's global SaaS platform (Konnect) with reliability and performance.
Build and maintain Kubernetes-based infrastructure and deployment workflows.
Design and optimize multi-region data stores and caching layers.
Improve Kong Gateway and Kong Mesh environments for hybrid architectures.
Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and GitOps automations.
Enhance observability with Datadog/Prometheus/Grafana/Thanos and track SLOs.
Collaborate with security teams to ensure reliability and compliance.
Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation and improve incident response.
Lead scaling initiatives for elasticity and cost efficiency.
