Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Simulation Software Engineer (Level 3 or 4) to join the Space Systems team in Dulles, VA. The role focuses on developing spacecraft simulation software and components, with work conducted in a SCIF environment and requiring TS/SCI clearance.

You will establish requirements, develop models, and integrate frameworks, collaborating across disciplines and delivering tools and visualizations for mission analysis. On-site, 9/80 schedule with occasional travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's, Master's or PhD in Software/Electrical/Computer/Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Physics or closely related field.
• Active TS/SCI clearance at time of application is required.
• Proficiency in C/C++ and Python.
• Experience with Matlab/Simulink and scripting in Windows/Linux environments.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Familiarity with waterfall, spiral and/or Agile software development and CI practices.
• Ability to use revision control tools such as Subversion and/or Git.
• Ability to document technical and programmatic status clearly.

Responsibilities

• Establish simulation requirements.
• Plan, organize and manage the full software lifecycle for spacecraft simulation software.
• Develop spacecraft component models from hardware documentation.
• Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to integrate and validate models.
• Develop or integrate simulation frameworks.
• Support simulated real-time operations and mission analysis.
• Develop and integrate advanced graphical user interfaces and visualization tools.
• Model Thermosphere and Exosphere environments.
• Perform trade studies via computer simulation and recommend architectures.
• Prepare design documentation, analyses and presentation materials for stakeholders.
