Job summary

Northrop Grumman in Dulles, VA is seeking a Simulation Software Engineer (Hardware-in-the-Loop) to join a Space Systems team. The role develops high-fidelity test platforms that mirror space vehicle interfaces for flight software and mission development.

The position requires a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical/Computer Engineering, 2+ years of related experience, and the ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance. It is 100% onsite with a 9/80 schedule and travel up to 10%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related STEM with 2+ years experience or Master’s degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related STEM
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance with SCI access
• U.S. citizenship required
• Diverse programming experience: C/C++, Python, Windows/Linux scripting
• Excellent communication and ability to work in small teams
• Understanding of waterfall, spiral and/or Agile software development processes and CI
• Experience with revision control tools like Subversion and Git
• Ability to document technical and programmatic status clearly to management

Responsibilities

• Establish simulation requirements for hardware-in-the-loop platforms
• Select interface hardware to simulate space vehicle components
• Develop simulation software models and interfaces to hardware cards
• Define simulation testbed harnessing based on flight harness and requirements
• Interface with hardware engineers for design, build and test of simulation platforms
• Implement software control of simulation platform test equipment
• Develop and execute simulation certification loop-back testing
• Integrate components and flight software with the simulation platform
• Use lab equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, interface analyzers) for debugging
• Prepare design documentation, analysis, test results, and presentations for customers
• Collaborate in a cross-functional team across programs
