Job summary

Anthropic is seeking a seasoned silicon engineer to join our custom silicon team in San Francisco. You will cover domains from front-end design to physical design and verification, with ownership of key architectural decisions and close collaboration with partner teams.

You have shipped silicon, work with aggressive schedules, and can lead end-to-end activities from strategy to bring-up. This role requires strong communication, autonomy, and the ability to balance buy/build/license decisions in

Qualifications

• Deep, hands-on expertise in at least one silicon domain from the following areas: front-end design, pre-silicon verification, physical design, design for test, analog and mixed-signal, technology and foundry, design infrastructure, or packaging and signal/power integrity.
• Direct personal contribution to silicon that taped out and shipped.
• Fluency to reason about chip-level tradeoffs across domains.
• Experience working with external partners (ASIC houses, IP vendors, foundries, test partners).
• Track record of owning directional technical decisions and their consequences.
• Experience using AI coding tools in your own work.
• Clear written and verbal communication with cross-team alignment.
• Comfort operating with high autonomy on a dynamic program.

Responsibilities

• Take part in end-to-end program activities: strategy, specification, execution, and technical bar.
• Write specifications and interface definitions and keep them coherent as architecture evolves.
• Make and own directional calls on technology/IP selection and build-vs-buy decisions.
• Build AI-assisted approaches to code-like parts of your domain and share learnings about Claude acceleration.
• Contribute to architecture discussions from your domain perspective and consider tradeoffs for the rest of the chip.
• Collaborate with inference, performance, kernels, and infrastructure teams on hardware-software co-design.
• Support first-silicon bring-up and debug as it arrives.
