Job summary

A semiconductor technology company located in Redwood City is looking for a Senior Silicon Engineer. This role involves the technical ownership of logic design and validation for various functional blocks, requiring a strong background in CPU, IP, and SoC architecture. Candidates should have over 5 years' experience in design and validation, and proficiency in SystemVerilog and UVM. Qualifications

About the Job

At Cognichip, we are building the next-generation enterprise product suite to empower semiconductor design engineers to achieve a 10x productivity boost using proprietary AI/ML models and modern cloud technologies. We are seeking an experienced logic design or verification engineer to join a growing Silicon AI team to develop AI-driven capabilities for silicon design and verification workflows and synthetic data engineering. You will be part of a team building an AI engine capable of exhaustively designing and verifying hardware IP architecture and microarchitecture, as well as integrating it into larger SoCs. We are looking for highly talented, passionate, and versatile engineers who can push hardware to the highest performance and quality standards.

Job Title

Senior Silicon Engineer

Core Responsibilities
  • Technical ownership of logic design and validation of various functional blocks of CPU, IPs, and/or SoC
  • Document microarchitecture specifications and test plans; drive reviews of AI-generated specs and test plans
  • Design in-house hardware IPs, including logic synthesis, timing closure, power optimization, area reduction, and performance targets
  • Develop validation content including UVM and SystemVerilog testbenches, directed and constrained random tests, SystemVerilog assertions, and functional coverage
  • Apply agentic workflows to generate synthetic data for logic design and verification
Required Qualifications
  • BS in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field
  • 5+ years of experience in CPU, graphics, or SoC design and validation
  • Strong knowledge of CPU, IP, and SoC architecture
  • Experience with logic design, synthesis, timing closure, low-power design, multi-clock domains, and area optimization
  • Knowledge of verification methodologies (test plan development, test generation/debug, assertion-based verification, coverage analysis and closure)
  • Experience with SystemVerilog and UVM
  • Experience with C/C++ and assembly
  • Experience with Python or other scripting languagesStrong cross-functional communication skills across multidisciplinary teams
  • Business-fluent English
