Job summary

Virginia Department of Transportation, serving the Virginia Beach area, seeks a senior leader to guide the Operations Engineering and Decision Support function. You will supervise professional staff, provide strategic guidance, and partner with the District Engineer on program delivery.

Qualifications

• Degree in Systems Engineering or related field is required.
• Valid Professional Engineer's license is preferred.
• Experience in arterial system management and ITS components is expected.

Responsibilities

• Lead Operations Engineering and Decision Support to manage arterial/freeway networks.
• Oversee budgets, staffing, and contracts to meet program goals.
• Coordinate with stakeholders at local, state, and federal levels.
• Provide guidance on traffic signal timing, ITS deployments and emergency responses.
