Job description

Senior Traffic Engineer

Locations: Fairfax, Richmond, and Virginia Beach, VA.

Responsibilities

As the Senior Traffic Engineer, you will perform and manage traffic engineering design and studies related to work zone traffic control, signing and pavement markings, traffic signals, lighting, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), and traffic operational analyses. You will collaborate with roadway, structural, hydraulics, and environmental groups within the Transportation business unit. Responsibilities include designing and analyzing traffic-related tasks, preparing cost estimates, meeting with clients, and assisting in proposal development. The role may involve managing traffic-related tasks and mentoring junior traffic engineers. Flexible work hours and part-time telework are available.

Required Skills & Experience

• BS in Civil Engineering
• Minimum 5 years of experience in traffic engineering
• VDOT, MSHA, MDTA and/or design-build experience preferred
• MicroStation experience required
• Proficiency with analysis software (VISSIM, Synchro, SimTraffic, HCS) preferred
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• PE license preferred, PTOE preferred
• Project Management and leadership skills preferred
