Qualifications

• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with diverse audiences and to make presentations.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
• Evaluate and develop innovative solutions for transportation planning and mobility initiatives.
• Interpret technical data and prepare and maintain detailed reports.
• Negotiate outcomes and work with diverse customer groups.
• Plan, prioritize, coordinate and complete multiple assignments within scheduled timeframes.
• Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Knowledge of roadway capacity analysis and safety analysis impacting roadway designs.
• Knowledge of traffic engineering and road design principles and practices.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint).
• Valid Professional Engineer's license.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and train professional staff; lead projects across the department.
• Coordinate activities with management, stakeholders, customers, and FHWA regarding transportation projects.
• Lead traffic analysis studies, microsimulation and related deliverables.
• Prepare local and regional travel demand forecasts for planning horizons.
• Conduct transportation planning studies and provide actionable recommendations.
• Prepare management reports and provide technical leadership for engineers and staff.
• Fulfill duties as responsible charge engineer in compliance with policies and Virginia Code.
• Promote training and development opportunities within the team.
