Job summary

Pacific Life Insurance Company is seeking a Senior Claims Specialist - Short Term Disability in a remote role based near Chattanooga, TN. You will lead end-to-end adjudication of complex STD claims, collaborating with clinical and vocational resources to support return-to-work decisions and ensure compliant, empathetic service.

You will mentor teammates, refine processes, and navigate regulatory requirements (FMLA, ERISA, HIPAA, ADA) while maintaining confidentiality and high-quality claim

Qualifications

• College degree or equivalent experience preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of experience handling Short Term Disability claims.
• Strong understanding of STD claim adjudication and regulations (FMLA, ERISA, HIPAA, ADA).
• Experience partnering with clinical/vocational professionals to support RTW efforts.

Responsibilities

• Manage a diverse and complex caseload of STD claims from intake through resolution.
• Collaborate with clinical and vocational partners to develop RTW strategies and determine benefit eligibility.
• Serve as a subject matter expert on STD claim practices and help refine internal procedures and workflows.
• Ensure detailed, accurate documentation of decisions and interactions with claimants and employers.
• Mentor peers and support onboarding within the team.
