Job summary

Pacific Life is seeking a Senior Claims Specialist - Short Term Disability to join the Workforce Benefits Team on a remote basis in Chattanooga, TN. You will lead end‑to‑end adjudication of complex STD claims, guiding decisions with clinical and vocational partners to support employees’ return‑to‑work journeys.

Qualifications

• College degree or equivalent experience preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of experience handling Short Term Disability claims.
• Strong understanding of STD adjudication and regulations (FMLA, ERISA, HIPAA, ADA).
• Experience partnering with clinical/vocational professionals to support RTW efforts.

Responsibilities

• Manage a diverse caseload of STD claims from intake through resolution.
• Collaborate with clinical and vocational partners for RTW strategies and eligibility.
• Serve as SME on STD claim practices and refine internal procedures.
• Leverage knowledge of disability provisions, exclusions, riders, and regulatory requirements.
• Document decisions clearly and communicate with claimants, employers, and stakeholders.
• Mentor onboarding of new team members and share expertise.
