Job summary

The Plainfield Area Public Library is seeking an Adult Services Librarian with a focus on senior services in Will County, Illinois. You will collaborate with staff to promote senior resources, manage collections, and support community programs for older adults.

Key duties include welcoming patrons, answering questions, coordinating with Outreach Services, and updating the Senior Services webpage. The role requires MLS, a year of relevant experience, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• MLS degree from an ALA-accredited institution.
• One year of experience and/or training in areas applicable to these responsibilities.
• Strong interest in working with seniors and collection development.
• Fantastic communication and customer service skills.
• Exemplary attention to detail, organization, and time management skills.
• Ability to work both collaboratively and independently.
• Ability to work Monday and Tuesday evenings and fourth weekends.

Responsibilities

• Welcome patrons and answer reference, library equipment, and reader advisory questions during a four-hour desk shift.
• Attend a community event with the Outreach Services Coordinator to promote resources and programs for seniors.
• Coordinate with another librarian to plan and host a senior-interest program.
• Update the Senior Services webpage to reflect new community resources.
• Select new materials for the adult large print, non-fiction, foreign language, and music CD collections.
• Notarize a document.
• Act as the Person In Charge.
