Job summary

St. Louis Public Library seeks an Outreach Assistant to provide in-person services to seniors and disabled customers at residential senior living facilities, nursing homes, and home delivery sites.

You will join a flexible, patient team that values independence and collaboration while connecting patrons with library materials and services. The role requires organization and a customer-focused approach, with a schedule of Mon–Fri 8:00 am–5:00 pm and occasional evenings or Saturdays.

Qualifications

• Two years of library related experience, or an associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Comfortability with using and learning new technology as the Library continues to evolve.

Responsibilities

• Provide circulation services on adult outreach routes, including issuing library cards, placing and fulfilling customer hold requests, checking out/checking in library materials, and assisting with reference questions.
• Transport Library materials to and from outreach sites and home delivery locations using Library van in bags weighing 25-50 lbs.
• Update mobile collection monthly for customers to browse.
• Prepare and submit monthly reports on statistics for outreach.
• Assist library customers with reference questions and utilizing the online catalog.
