Job summary

Naperville Public Library is seeking an Adult Services Librarian to provide reference and Readers’ Advisory services, guide paraprofessional staff, and assist customers with digital and print resources. The role includes promotional activities for library resources, programs, and services.

The position requires MLIS (ALA-accredited), library experience, and strong customer service and communication skills. Occasional supervision of staff and collaboration on outreach projects are expected.

Qualifications

• Requires MLIS with ALA accreditation.
• Library experience is required.
• Bilingual proficiency is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes and accesses information using a broad spectrum of resources, including print, electronic, and online resources.
• Upholds the highest standards of customer service with polite, helpful interactions with vendors, customers, and staff.
• Provides leadership, training and guidance to staff and the public in Adult & Teen Services.
• Stays current with adult and teen literature, relevant technology, and library trends.
• Provides reference and Readers’ Advisory assistance for users, including topical research and material location.
• Works with Collection Services to manage the adult collection.
• May periodically serve as PersonInCharge (PIC).
• Develops, implements, and staffs programs for adults.
• Prepares reports and statistics for review as requested.
