Job summary

St. Louis Public Library is seeking an Outreach Assistant to deliver in-person services to seniors and disabled customers at residential senior living facilities, nursing homes, adult day care centers, community locations, and home delivery sites.

You will join a flexible, patient team and help connect customers with library resources. The role involves circulation on outreach routes, transporting library materials (25–50 lb bags), updating mobile collections, and preparing monthly outreach

Qualifications

• Two years of library related experience or an associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Comfortability with using and learning new technology as the Library continues to evolve.

Responsibilities

• Provide circulation services on adult outreach routes, including issuing library cards, placing and fulfilling customer hold requests, checking out/checking in library materials, and assisting with reference questions.
• Transport Library materials to and from outreach sites and home delivery locations using Library van in bags weighing 25-50 lbs.
• Update mobile collection monthly for customers to browse.
• Prepare and submit monthly reports on statistics for outreach.
• Assist library customers with reference questions and utilizing the online catalog.

The St. Louis Public Library is seeking an Outreach Assistant to provide in-person services to seniors and disabled customers at residential senior living facilities, nursing homes, adult day care facilities, community centers, and home delivery locations. You will be part of a flexible and patient team. The role requires someone who is organized, detail-oriented, and thrives working independently as well as collaboratively.

Our ideal candidate is someone who would enjoy working with the Senior population to connect them with library materials and other library services.

In this role you will:

● Provide circulation services on adult outreach routes, including issuing library cards, placing and fulfilling customer hold requests, checking out/checking in library materials, and assisting with reference questions.

● Transport Library materials to and from outreach sites and home delivery locations using Library van in bags weighing 25-50 lbs.

You will need to be:

Friendly, outgoing, and able to build relationships at all levels.

Strategic and patient about assisting customers with different levels of proficiency in using Library resources

Capable of effectively presenting information and responding to questions from customers and staff

Flexible, positive, and willing to work with staff and colleagues to successfully overcome challenges.

Able to work with competing tasks and priorities.

You will need to have:

Schedule

Mon - Fri 8:00 am- 5:00 pm, with occasional evenings and Saturdays as needed.
