Job summary

Naperville Public Library is seeking an Adult Services Librarian to provide reference and Readers’ Advisory services, assist customers with digital and print resources, and lead paraprofessional staff in managing collections and programs.

The role involves delivering programs for adults, staying current with literature and technology, and collaborating on outreach. Strong customer service and supervisory skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Master of Library and Information Science degree (ALA accredited college/university).
• Library experience required.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes and accesses information using a broad spectrum of resources, including print, electronic, and online resources.
• Upholds the highest standards of customer service with polite, helpful, and efficient interactions with vendors, customers, and staff.
• Provides leadership, training and guidance to staff and the public in the area of Adult & Teen Services.
• Stays current with adult and teen literature, relevant technology, and library trends.
• Provides reference and Reader’s Advisory assistance for users, including topical research and material location.
• Works with Collection Services to manage the adult collection.
• May periodically serve as PersonInCharge (PIC), providing support for employees, customers, and facility issues.
• Performs special projects involving Library promotion and outreach activities in areas of expertise. Conducts Library tours.
• Coordinates and/or conducts the proctoring of exams for public.
• Develops, implements, and staffs programs for adults.
• Prepares reports and statistics for review as requested.
• Troubleshoots and resolves minor computer hardware and software problems.
• Performs other related duties and special projects assigned.
