Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Lead discovery, data mapping, and migration strategy for source to destination ServiceNow tenant.
• Design and execute migration plans for custom tables, configurations, update sets, and historical data.
• Cleanse and reconcile configuration drift and technical debt during migration.
• Minimize downtime during cutovers and post-migration validation windows.
• Architect, configure, and develop on destination tenant using best practices (App Engine, Flow Designer, Integration Hub, UI Builder, Client Scripts, Script Includes, Business Rules).
• Design Service Catalog items, Record Producers, and automated multi-step workflows.
• Enforce governance, ACLs, domain boundaries, and performance guidelines.
• Build and maintain enterprise integrations with ERP, CRM, CI/CD, identity providers, and monitoring tools.
• Develop REST/SOAP web services, Scripted REST APIs, webhook handlers, and Integration Hub spokes.
• Ensure secure channels (OAuth 2.0, mTLS) and robust error handling, validation, and retries.
• Define and run unit, functional, integration, and UAT tests across environments.
• Oversee update set governance, CI/CD pipelines, code reviews, and production releases.
• Collaborate with Head of ServiceNow Platform and stakeholders on roadmaps.
• Document architectures, data schemas, interfaces, and SOPs.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Senior ServiceNow Platform Engineer to join our enterprise platform team in Birmingham, AL. Reporting directly to the Head of ServiceNow Platform, you will play a critical role in executing an end-to-end ServiceNow Tenant-to-Tenant Migration, architecting and delivering new platform capabilities on the destination tenant, building robust third-party integrations, and driving comprehensive automated and manual testing strategies.

This role blends strategic engineering with hands-on development across ITSM, ITOM, and custom platform applications, ensuring standard architectural integrity, minimal downtime, and adherence to ServiceNow best practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead technical discovery, data mapping, and migration strategy from the source instance to the destination ServiceNow tenant.
• Design and execute migration plans for custom tables, platform configurations, system properties, scoped applications, update sets, and historical transactional data.
• Cleanse, normalize, and reconcile configuration drift, technical debt, and duplicate records during migration.
• Minimize business disruption and platform downtime during migration cutovers and post-migration validation windows.

2. Destination Tenant Development & Enhancements

• Architect, configure, and develop scalable solutions on the destination tenant using ServiceNow best practices (App Engine, Flow Designer, Integration Hub, UI Builder, Client Scripts, Script Includes, and Business Rules).
• Design intuitive Service Catalog items, Record Producers, and automated multi-step workflows.
• Enforce instance governance, security controls (ACLs), domain separation/access boundaries, and performance optimization guidelines.

3. Integrations & API Development

• Design, build, and maintain enterprise integrations connecting ServiceNow with ERP, CRM, CI/CD, identity providers (SSO/Okta/Azure AD), and monitoring tooling.
• Develop custom REST/SOAP web services, Scripted REST APIs, webhook handlers, and Integration Hub spokes.
• Ensure secure communication channels (OAuth 2.0, mutual TLS) and implement resilient error-handling, payload validation, and retry mechanisms.

4. Testing, Quality Assurance & Deployment

• Define and execute unit, functional, integration, and user acceptance testing (UAT) across development, sub-production, and production environments.
• Build and maintain automated test suites using the Automated Test Framework (ATF) to reduce regression cycles during migrations and family upgrades.
• Oversee update set governance, CI/CD deployment pipelines, code review routines, and production release management.
• Partner closely with the Head of ServiceNow Platform, platform administrators, product owners, and business stakeholders to align sprint deliverables with strategic roadmaps.
• Document technical architecture specifications, data schemas, interface agreements, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Mentor junior developers and system administrators on clean code practices and ServiceNow architectural standards.

Required Qualifications

• Experience:
• 7+ years of dedicated, hands-on engineering/development experience on the ServiceNow platform.
• Direct experience planning and executing ServiceNow instance consolidation, instance cloning, or tenant-to-tenant migration.
• Technical Skills:
• Advanced expertise in Script Includes, Business Rules, Flow Designer, Integration Hub, Workflow Editor, and UI Actions.
• Extensive experience building REST/SOAP web services and custom Scripted REST APIs.
• Hands-on experience developing test suites using ServiceNow Automated Test Framework (ATF).
• ServiceNow Core Modules: Strong background working across ITSM (Incident, Change, Problem, Request) and one or more adjacent suites (ITOM/CMDB, ITAM, SPM, or HRSD).
• Location & Presence: Based in or willing to relocate to Birmingham, Alabama.

Preferred Qualifications & Certifications

• Certifications (Highly Preferred):
• Certified System Administrator (CSA)
• Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) in ITSM or platform-adjacent modules
• Experience migrating data using tools like ServiceNow Import Sets, Transform Maps, Instance Data Replication (IDR), or custom ETL tools.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies and Jira/Azure DevOps integration.
• Experience with platform performance tuning, large-scale CMDB reconciliations, and platform upgrades.
