Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Senior Server Engineer to support, maintain, and improve enterprise server, virtualization, storage, and hybrid cloud infrastructure across datacenters and data rooms. You will work in a 24x7 environment with strong scripting and security focus.

The role requires advanced knowledge of Windows Server, VMware, Citrix, and cloud platforms (Azure/AWS), plus on-call rotation and collaboration with customers and vendors. A BA/BS in a related field is preferred.

Qualifications

Advanced knowledge of Windows Server, Linux/Unix, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and related enterprise infrastructure services.
Strong experience supporting virtualized and hybrid infrastructure platforms, including VMware vSphere, VMware Horizon, Citrix, converged, and hyper-converged compute environments.
Working knowledge of cloud technology platforms, including Microsoft Azure, AWS, hybrid cloud architecture, identity and access management, monitoring, security controls, and cost-aware operational support.
Ability to troubleshoot complex server, cloud, virtualization, storage, application, and network-related issues using logs, monitoring tools, performance data, and root cause analysis methods.
Proficiency with scripting and automation tools, such as PowerShell or related technologies, to improve operational efficiency, reporting, provisioning, patching, and repeatable infrastructure tasks.

Responsibilities

Monitoring problem ticket queues and resolve tickets in a timely manner according to the defined SLAs.
Participating in monthly security patching for computing environment.
Troubleshooting with peers and customers on application related issues; function as escalation point for application admins and second level support.
Updating Operating Systems (Windows), and Assist with updating VMware Infrastructure (upgrades, hotfixes, security remediations).
Assisting Vendors, Customers and Peers with remote access needs.
Following and executing defined runbooks and documentation for Disaster recovery events, System Decommissions, Infrastructure installs/Upgrades, Application patching.
Monitoring infrastructure via monitoring toolsets.
Create technical documentation and workflows.
Following defined Change Management policies and procedures.
Attending daily, weekly and monthly team meetings; attending project or troubleshooting calls.
Participating in projects as assigned.
Supporting cloud technology platforms, including Microsoft Azure, AWS, and hybrid cloud services, by assisting with provisioning, monitoring, troubleshooting, access coordination, and operational support activities.
