Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Manager of Ontology and Data Modeling to lead enterprise ontologies and standardized data supporting ERP replacement initiatives. You will partner with Technology, Product, and business teams to advance semantic capabilities and governance across Finance Products and Data Solutions.

You will champion data standardization, communicate value to stakeholders, and mentor junior associates while delivering measurable outcomes in a dynamic enterprise environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in information science, computer science, engineering, library science, ontology, semantics or computational linguistics.
• At least 4 years’ experience in a metadata field (ontology, taxonomy, semantics or computational linguistics).
• Experience with W3C standards and linked data (JSON, XML, RDF, RDFS, OWL, SKOS).
• Experience with ontology and linked data tools ( Protégé, TopQuadrant, PoolParty, Stardog, AnzoGraph, Neptune, Data.World ).
• At least 4 years’ experience with SQL or SPARQL.

Responsibilities

• Define problem statements to deliver results with ontologies and optimized data models.
• Develop and prioritize the ontology/data modeling roadmap to achieve business outcomes.
• Collaborate with Technology, Product, and other teams to integrate semantic technology.
• Communicate the value of standards and semantic approaches across Capital One.
• Develop 6‑month vision and manage risks while building broad relationships.
• Lead recruitment and mentorship of junior ontology and data modeling associates.
• Govern ontologies and data models in consultation with stakeholders.
• Support data integration/mapping to harmonize data with enterprise ontologies.
