Job summary

M.C. Dean is seeking a Security Systems Engineer 5 to join the Security and Electronic Systems (SES) business unit in the Washington, DC area.

You will help design, implement, and sustain enterprise‑level physical security and IT systems across federal, local, and commercial customers. The role requires strong problem‑solving, hands‑on system integration, and the ability to lead tasks independently while collaborating with Design/Install and O&M teams.

Qualifications

• Education: Master’s or Bachelor’s in a related field with 7+ or 10+ years’ experience respectively.
• Experience with enterprise security systems design, deployment, and operations.
• Hands-on with access control, video management, perimeter IDS, and other electronic security platforms.
• Proficiency in Windows Server, AD, DNS/DFS/DHCP, and KMS.
• Strong scripting in PowerShell, Python, JSON, Bash; familiarity with automation and IaaS.
• Ability to lead tasks, communicate with executives, and work across multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and sustain enterprise-level physical security and IT systems.
• Install, configure, test, and maintain security systems; provide technical support.
• Document designs and changes; maintain SOPs and playbooks.
• Apply security updates and ensure posture per ICD 705 and related standards.
• Research and prototype new security tech with vendors to meet customer needs.
