Job summary

Sierra Ventures is seeking a Senior MTS for Technology & Security Engineering to architect and run the security foundation protecting our research infra, GPUs, and model assets. You will drive end-to-end security across compute, cloud, and data-center operations while maintaining research velocity.

You will lead guardrails, reduce blast radius, and partner with infra and research teams to scale security controls with GPU capacity. Extensive hands-on work and executive presence are required.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of deep engineering experience at high-valuation companies or defense-grade environments.
• Battle-tested leadership building and operating security engineering functions at scale.
• Experience with audits (SOC 2, ISO 27001, FedRAMP, ISO 22237, ISO 22301, NIST CSF) and vendor risk.
• Experience negotiating security-related contracts and leading procurement security reviews.

Responsibilities

• Design and operate a security engineering foundation spanning end-user compute to cloud and container security.
• Architect IAM governance, network segmentation, and isolation for large GPU training infra.
• Implement zero-trust access with hardware-backed authentication and context-aware authorization.
• Develop SaC pipelines (Terraform/Pulumi) and automate compliance checks.
• Build telemetry and detection pipelines to monitor for post-exploitation activity at scale.
