Job summary

Sierra Nevada Corporation is seeking an Engineering Manager I - Software Development to lead the design, deployment, and sustainment of secure cloud-based cybersecurity platforms. You will guide engineers, drive CI/CD automation, and enforce secure coding practices within cross-functional teams.

You will mentor engineers and solution architects, oversee architecture alignment, and collaborate with security, operations, and product stakeholders to deliver high-quality, scalable systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a related discipline.
• 6+ years of progressive engineering experience.
• Higher degree may substitute for experience.
• Understanding of engineering principles and practices.
• Experience with large-scale software development.
• Experience with automation and configuration management.
• Experience with software process automation with scripting languages.
• Experience developing code in at least one high-level programming language.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum, Waterfall, and Spiral methodologies.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, test, and implement secure operating systems, networks, and security monitoring tools.
• Manage and tune IT security systems and applications.
• Audit and manage system and network access, maintaining an active directory of authorized users.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure security integration in all IT projects.
• Oversee cloud infrastructure for cybersecurity monitoring and AI platforms.
• Conduct regular code reviews to ensure engineering best practices and secure coding standards.
• Lead onboarding, mentorship, and career development for engineering teams.
• Provide leadership, performance evaluations, and conflict resolution support.
• Foster a high-performance culture aligned with organizational goals.
