Job summary

Elastic, the Search AI Company, seeks a Senior Software Engineer for the Elasticsearch Security team. You will contribute to architecture and design of core features, including authentication, authorization, and tenant isolation, ensuring high-performance security at scale.

You will collaborate with engineers and product leaders to deliver secure, scalable solutions and drive vulnerability management across the organization.

Qualifications

• Deep knowledge of Java internals and JVM memory management.
• Experience writing high-performance, thread-safe, and lock-free code for large codebases.
• Experience building scalable authorization systems for distributed environments.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems security, including mutual trust and zero-trust transport.
• Knowledge of edge identity protocols such as OAuth 2.0 and SAML.
• Track record of using AI to accelerate development and debugging while collaborating on final outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to core security initiatives from architecture to production for Elasticsearch core engine.
• Develop foundational security models and features.
• Optimize security performance in distributed systems at scale.
• Apply cryptographic solutions to real customer use cases.
• Ensure data isolation within shared infrastructure across customers.
• Stay updated on security practices: authentication, identity, cryptography, and data access management.
• Collaborate across teams to embed security in new customer features from the start.
• Drive vulnerability management with the InfoSec team and enable AI-assisted triage and investigation.
