Job summary

Axon is hiring a Senior Security Operations Engineer I to build secure, scalable infrastructure and developer-friendly security platforms. You will develop internal tooling for vulnerability management, manage AWS infrastructure with IaC, and integrate security into CI/CD pipelines to safeguard deployments.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in security engineering, infrastructure, site reliability, or platform engineering roles.
• Exceptional software development skills with experience building production-grade tools (Go, Python, or similar).
• Proven ability to design and develop internal security platforms and tooling, particularly for vulnerability management, asset inventory, or CMDB systems.
• Strong experience securing cloud environments (AWS, Azure) and containerized workloads in production.
• Hands-on experience provisioning and managing AWS infrastructure using IaC tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Experience operating CSPM and cloud security scanning platforms and remediating vulnerabilities with engineering teams.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes security (cluster hardening, policy enforcement, runtime monitoring).
• Deep understanding of Linux systems, networking, distributed systems, and security controls.
• Experience integrating security into CI/CD pipelines with automated scanning and policy enforcement.
• Proficiency in automation and IaC to build scalable, secure platforms.
• Familiarity with observability and security monitoring tools (logging, metrics, SIEM).
• Strong collaboration and communication skills with developers, SRE, and platform teams.
• Proactive mindset toward vulnerability management, system hardening, and continuous security improvement.
• Passion for building security tools and platforms to improve developer productivity while maintaining security.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate secure, scalable infrastructure and developer-friendly security platforms.
• Develop and maintain in-house tools for vulnerability management and CMDB lifecycle management.
• Design, provision, and manage AWS infrastructure using IaC and cloud-native architectures.
• Enhance CI/CD systems with automated security testing and deployment safeguards.
• Implement and improve Kubernetes security practices including policy enforcement and runtime monitoring.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex operational issues across environments.
• Partner with engineering, platform, and SRE teams to fit fast-moving development cycles.
• Contribute to automation initiatives to enforce secure configuration and reduce drift.
• Continuously evaluate emerging threats and tooling to strengthen defenses and productivity.
