Job summary

Axios seeks a Senior Security Engineer to lead defensive security across cloud, AI, and automation pipelines. Architect controls in AWS and Kubernetes, drive threat modeling and vulnerability management, and embed AI-driven defense across platform and CI/CD.

Collaborate with product, infra, data, and QE to integrate security at every development stage. You will implement SAST/DAST, IAM, zero-trust, and secure coding practices while guiding teams through threat modeling workshops.

Qualifications

• Deep expertise in cloud and application security, threat modeling, vulnerability scanning, IAM, and AI security.
• Strong working knowledge of AWS infrastructure and security controls (IAM, KMS, EKS, RDS, S3).
• Hands-on with Kubernetes hardening, runtime security, container scanning, and network policies.
• Experience integrating SAST/DAST and security automation into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions).

Responsibilities

• Lead the architectural design and implementation of security controls across cloud infrastructure, platform services, and AI integrations.
• Drive vulnerability management, threat modeling, incident response, and proactive security assessments across AWS, Kubernetes, and AI environments.
• Shape and execute the company’s long-term security roadmap in alignment with engineering and leadership.
• Embed automated security testing and AI-driven compliance checks into CI/CD and IaC workflows.
• Oversee IAM, secrets management, encryption, and zero-trust standards.
• Evaluate and deploy internal and third-party AI security tools to detect and mitigate AI-driven threats in real time.
• Promote security through threat modeling workshops and secure coding guidance across teams.
• Partner with product, infra, data, and QE to embed security into the development lifecycle.
