Job summary

Leidos is seeking an experienced Scrum Master to support a large-scale, SAFe-aligned program for the DISA GSM-O II contract. You will lead agile teams, educate teams on Scrum/Kanban, remove impediments, and drive relentless improvement on-site at Fort Meade or related bases.

A Secret clearance is required at start. Responsibilities include facilitating PI planning, SAFe ceremonies, and collaboration with Product Owners to deliver features.

Qualifications

• Requires a US Citizenship.
• Active DoD Secret clearance.
• Must be able to commute to Scott AFB, MD, or Ft. Meade, MD, or Ogden, UT for full-time on-site support.
• Bachelor’s Degree with 8-12 years of relevant experience or master’s with 6-10 years of prior relevant experience.
• Ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience working as a Scrum Master on a software development or other technical team.
• Certified Scrum Master (CSM), SAFe Scrum Master (SSM) or PMI-ACP certification.
• Experience using agile project management tools (e.g. Jira).
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, and time management skills are a must.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment across diverse systems and groups.
• Willing to assist and train junior Scrum Masters.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate self-organizing team(s) to meet Program Increment commitments.
• Protect the team from scope creep during PI execution.
• Remove impediments and coordinate with the Release Train Engineer or Project Manager.
• Help team members communicate, coordinate, and cooperate.
• Support and enforce Scrum process and other rules.
• Ensure the team has a clear Definition of Done and how to meet it.
• Coordinate with other teams on the Agile Release Train and report status to management.
• Work with Product Owner(s) to review and prioritize features.
• Lead SAFe ceremonies: backlog grooming, sprint planning, sprint review, demos, retrospectives, and PI planning.
• Develop User Stories to meet Feature acceptance criteria.
• Maintain information radiators and team metrics; identify needs for new metrics.
• Coach teams on agile and scrum principles for continuous improvement.
• Observe team dynamics and coach the team toward higher productivity.
• Create a learning environment with ideas like pair programming and cross-functional training.
• Promote teamwork to achieve sprint goals and agile maturity.
• Mentor junior Scrum Masters across projects.
