Job summary

Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS) in Fullerton, CA is seeking a Machine Tech V for 1st shift to set up and operate multiple spindle automatic screw machines. The role requires performing set-ups and minor process adjustments, with responsibilities across loading, deburring, inspection, and reporting issues.

The position demands reading gauges, following blueprints, SPC chart upkeep, and assisting in training operators.

Qualifications

• Education and/or Experience: high school diploma or GED preferred; or five or more years related experience and/or training as a Screw Machine Set Up Operator; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Language Skills: ability to read and interpret English documents, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions; able to complete routine documentation and communicate with managers and coworkers.
• Mathematical Skills: perform basic arithmetic, rate, ratio, percent; read gauges and measurements.
• Reasoning Ability: apply common sense to carry out instructions and solve problems.
• Computer Skills: knowledge of Syteline Manufacturing software.
• Lean/ CI experience

Responsibilities

• Operates various standard and specialized machines to precision tolerance and maintains set-ups completed by others.
• Performs adjustments and tool changes.
• Performing set up operations.
• Operates one or more machines according to crew size called out on work order.
• Performs typical operations as: loading parts into bins, removing finished parts, and using gauges to check parts.
• Observes operations for malfunctions; corrects or reports them as needed.
• Performs tasks in related departments such as assembling, drilling, deburring, sorting, etching, stamping, recording parts processed and housekeeping.
• Checks multiple operations on a part (O.D., I.D., height, thread gauging, perpendicularity).
• Reads micrometers, indicators, gauges; reads work orders; maintains SPC charts.
• Works from orders, layouts; assists supervision in training operators.
• Parts may weigh up to 30 lbs; maintains a clean and safe work area.
