Job summary

Basecamp Research is seeking a Scientist/Senior Scientist for tLNP formulation and delivery in our Boston, MA team. You will own end-to-end design, formulation, bioconjugation, and physicochemical characterization of novel targeted LNPs, partnering with cell biology to validate targeting and uptake, and serving as the primary technical interface for in vivo studies.

The role requires a PhD with hands-on drug delivery experience and offers collaboration across AI, cell biology, and innovation

Qualifications

PhD in biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, chemistry or related field; 1–2 years for Scientist, 3+ for Senior Scientist.
Hands-on drug delivery foundations in a fast-moving environment.
LNP assembly platforms (microfluidic/NanoAssemblr) and surface bioconjugation techniques.

Responsibilities

LNP technology development to enable extrahepatic tissue tropism.
Design and execute tLNP formulations with varying lipid ratios and helper components.
Direct third-party CROs to synthesize lipids of interest.
Perform surface bioconjugation to attach targeting moieties on LNPs.
Conduct LNP analytics: size, polydispersity, zeta potential, encapsulation.
Characterize LNP formulations to support optimization and QA.
Develop and optimize in vitro assays (flow cytometry, plate readers, imaging).
Design in vivo biodistribution and PK studies for tLNP performance.
Maintain ELN records, author technical reports and patent disclosures.
Collaborate cross-functionally with AI and cell biology teams to inform design.
