Job summary

Alnylam Pharmaceuticals is seeking a Senior Associate Scientist for our onsite Cambridge, MA lab-based team. You will support ligand discovery by performing key experiments, screening, and characterization with project leads.

The role emphasizes hands-on molecular biology, cell-based assays, and NGS workflows. You will maintain rigorous records, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to data analysis and internal presentations.

Qualifications

• BS/MS in Biology or related field with 3–6 years of industrial experience.
• Familiarity with flow cytometry and NGS library preparation required.
• Hands-on experience with PCR, cloning, and DNA/RNA extraction.
• Experience with mammalian cell culture and cell-based assays desirable.
• Direct experience with single B cell isolation and screening technologies is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support ligand discovery campaigns by executing key experiments for discovery, screening, and characterization.
• Perform high-throughput screening and selection using cell-based assay.
• Execute NGS workflows, including library preparation from single cells.
• Perform standard molecular biology techniques, including PCR, plasmid preparation, and cloning.
• Run and assist in developing automated, high-throughput screening assays to characterize ligand properties.
• Maintain detailed records of all experimental work and data in electronic lab notebooks.
• Collaborate with cross-functional team to ensure project goals are met.
• Assist in data analysis, interpretation, and preparation of internal meeting presentations.
