Job summary

Serif Biomedicines in Cambridge, MA seeks a Senior Scientist II with deep lipid chemistry expertise to drive ionizable lipid design and the next generation of LNP formulations for nucleic acid delivery. You will design, synthesize lipids and optimize LNP molar compositions for high-throughput screening.

This role emphasizes independent work, cross‑functional collaboration, mentoring junior scientists, and contributing to the scientific strategy and IP positioning of the delivery platform.

Qualifications

• PhD or MS with 5+ years of industry experience in organic or medicinal chemistry.
• Strong background in multi-step organic synthesis and lipid delivery materials.
• Hands-on LNP formulation experience (microfluidic mixing).
• Experience designing formulation screens with DLS, encapsulation, and pKa assays.
• Experience with nucleic acid delivery (mRNA, DNA, siRNA) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and synthesize novel ionizable lipids and study structure-activity relationships.
• Lead the design of LNP molar compositions for potency, stability, and tolerability.
• Prepare LNP formulations for medium- to high-throughput screening.
• Plan formulation screening studies and build structure–property relationships across lipid libraries.
• Mentor junior scientists and contribute to scientific strategy and IP.
