Job summary

Bristol Myers Squibb in Princeton, NJ is seeking a Senior Scientist to lead flow cytometry biomarker assay development across clinical programs. This lab-based role involves assay design, qualification/validation, data interpretation, and mentoring junior scientists.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, oversee transfer to external labs when needed, and ensure rigorous documentation while delivering timely results to support dose optimization and patient selection.

Qualifications

• PhD, MS, or BSc in biological sciences, immunology, or related scientific discipline.
• At least 2 years of post-graduate experience with a PhD, 5 years with an MS, or 7 years with a BSc, including substantial flow cytometry work.
• Record of scientific contribution (publications, presentations, patents, or validated methods).
• Strong hands‑on expertise in high-parameter flow cytometry assay design, instrument optimization, data analysis, and troubleshooting.
• Proficiency with FlowJo, FCS Express, OMIQ, or comparable analysis software.
• Experience in writing clear, rigorous procedures, protocols, reports, and presentations.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver with limited supervision in a matrixed environment.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, organization, and record‑keeping skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, optimization, qualification/validation, and execution of flow cytometry assays for clinical biomarker studies.
• Design experiments and recommend assay approaches aligned with program objectives.
• Apply panel design, reagent selection, instrument setup, and performance characterization; refine protocols as needed.
• Perform or oversee clinical sample analysis to established quality standards.
• Evaluate and troubleshoot new flow cytometry methods, technologies, and platforms.
• Analyze and interpret complex flow cytometry data and advise on next steps to teams.
• Serve as technical contact for panel design, assay development, and data interpretation on programs.
• Lead or support assay transfer to external laboratories with scientific oversight.
