Senior Scientist
Location: The primary place of performance shall be at the Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Defense Coordinating Office (DCO) and U.S. Army Medical Research Development Command (USAMRDC) Government Facility at Fort Detrick, Maryland, 21702, between the hours of 8:30 AM and 5:00 PM ET, Monday through Friday (except federal holidays). Telework and/or flextime may be permitted if approved by the client.
CORTEK is seeking an experienced and driven Senior Scientist to provide scientific and analytical support at Fort Detrick, MD, in support of the U.S. Army Medical Research and Development Command (USAMRDC) and the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Defense Coordination Office (CBRN DCO). The Senior Scientist will play a vital role in coordinating and executing medical research and development (R&D) programs, supporting decision-making, and improving operational efficiency.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Conduct scientific analyses and provide technical expertise supporting military medical R&D initiatives.
- Analyze qualitative and quantitative data to generate insights and strategic recommendations.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate developing, integrating, and implementing R&D efforts.
- Review and assess scientific proposals, research findings, and reports.
- Assist government leadership in planning and directing research programs and policies.
- Contribute to developing technical reports, white papers, and briefings for internal and external stakeholders.
- Support tracking and managing research project milestones, budgets, and deliverables.
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. degree in Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Public Health, or a related scientific field required
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in scientific research or medical R&D, preferably within DoD, federal, or defense environments.
- Strong background in biological sciences, biomedical research, public health, or related technical field.
- Fluency with government and US Army software suites is critical, including but not limited to the General Funds Enterprise Business System (GFEBS), Joint Integrated CBRND Analytic Platform (JICAP), and Joint Service Chemical Biological Information Systems (JSCBIS). Additional familiarity with other commercial, government, or Department of Defense suites, including the Electronic Document Management System (EDMS), Enterprise Task Management Software Solution (ETMS2), and SharePoint, is preferred.
- Experience supporting multidisciplinary government research programs is highly desirable.
- Ability to interpret and analyze complex scientific data and present findings to senior leadership.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Working knowledge of CBRN defense programs is a plus.
NOTE: General work experience may be substituted for education. The requirement for education levels can be substituted at the rate of 2 years of experience for every year of education. An associate's degree is 2 years of education, a Bachelor's degree is 4 years, and a Master's degree is 6 years of education. The years of specific experience used for satisfying an education requirement cannot also be used as filling the work experience requirement. Education and experience must be sufficient to perform duties without additional training (aside from mandatory compliance-related training or Government-sponsored training opportunities)
Clearance
Secret or equivalent clearance is required for this contract. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
