Qualifications

• PhD or postdoc in biomaterials research.
• 1–3 years experience in academia, medical device, or pharmaceutical industry.
• Experience with small animal studies in murine or porcine models.
• Knowledge of cell-culture based assays, biocompatibility testing, and imaging techniques.
• Proven publication and patent track record.
• Experience writing federal grant proposals.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, plan and perform experiments on polymeric films impregnated with medicinal substances.
• Design and plan in-vitro antimicrobial tests against broad microbial strains.
• Design and plan in-vivo testing in murine and porcine wound healing models.
• Plan biocompatibility tests following ISO 10993 guidelines.
• Evaluate combinations of new polymers, biomaterials and medicinal substances.
• Organize and write research proposals for federal grants.
• Maintain SOPs and work instructions for product development.
• Supervise research assistants and present results.
• Collaborate in a high-energy team and make sound decisions under time pressure.
• Some travel may be required.
