Job summary

Johnson & Johnson is recruiting a Senior Scientist, Biomaterials R&D, to develop novel biomaterials technologies and support in‑market products across multiple cross‑functional teams. Located in Warsaw, IN or West Chester, PA, the role focuses on prototyping, testing, and regulatory submissions.

The candidate will lead material science initiatives, develop test methods, and collaborate with marketing, manufacturing, and suppliers to advance designs toward production.

Qualifications

• Six years of experience in biomaterials development or testing for medical devices.
• MS in Chemistry, Materials Science, Biomedical Engineering, or equivalent; PhD preferred.
• Experience with GMP, QSR, ISO quality requirements is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of biomaterial technologies and chemical test methods.

Responsibilities

• Act as SME in biomaterials science and chemical test methods.
• Coordinate with cross‑functional teams (marketing, manufacturing, quality, testing, supply chain, regulatory).
• Develop testing protocols using laboratory instruments and standard or custom methods.
• Perform and coordinate lab tasks in analytical, chemical, or biological R&D labs.
• Develop and execute design verification and validation plans and tests for regulatory strategy.
• Contribute to IP development for novel designs or technologies.
• Collaborate to optimize designs for manufacturability and production documentation.
• Present data and conclusions with analysis in technical reports.
• Apply statistical methods for test method development and validation.
• Follow New Product Development processes and quality practices.
