Job summary

Bristol Myers Squibb’s Scale-up Lab in Devens, MA seeks a Senior Scientist to lead scale-up and execution of upstream and downstream processes for biologics assets. Collaborate with process, analytical, and manufacturing teams to optimize tech transfer to clinical and commercial manufacturing.

The role emphasizes cross-functional teamwork, GMP compliance, and implementing new process technologies, with support for external manufacturing activities as needed.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. with 2–4 years of relevant experience in chemical/biochemical engineering.
• Strong knowledge of upstream or downstream processing.
• Working knowledge of cGMP.
• Excellent communication skills and teamwork.
• Experience with single-use manufacturing and automation.

Responsibilities

• Lead/Support daily operations in the Scale-up Lab, including bioreactor fill/harvest and analytics.
• Prepare and review technical documents (campaign summaries, batch records).
• Participate in cross-functional teams for process investigations, scale-up, and tech transfer.
• Introduce and evaluate new process technologies and capabilities.
• Identify and implement process transfer improvements with internal stakeholders.
• Support GMP-related external manufacturing activities when needed.
• Maintain a safe, compliant Scale-up Lab environment.
