Job summary

Bristol Myers Squibb in Devens, MA is seeking an Associate Scientist for the Pilot Plant to drive scale-up and execution of upstream or downstream processes within Biologics Development. You will collaborate with Process Development and manufacturing teams across the BMS network to deliver robust, economical processes for clinical and commercial supply.

The role reports to the Pilot Plant Manager and is based in Devens, MA.

Qualifications

• B.S. or M.S. in Chemical/Biochemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or related biologics fields
• 2-4 years of industry experience in Process Development, Pilot Operations, GMP manufacturing or related field
• Upstream/downstream unit operations: cell culture, bioreactors, harvest, chromatography, filtration
• Experience with single-use manufacturing and automation is a plus; cGMP knowledge is a plus
• Strong oral and written communication skills

Responsibilities

• Execute non-GMP Pilot Scale Lab Operations per SOPs and work instructions
• Maintain safety and a safe work environment
• Set up/run wave bioreactor, chromatography and filtration operations
• Prepare and review campaign summaries, batch records, and SOPs
• Introduce, evaluate, and implement new process technologies
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams for process development, scale-up, and tech transfer
• Track scale-up data against bench-scale to aid development teams
• Support digital and automation initiatives within the department
