Job summary

Genentech, in South San Francisco, CA, seeks an experienced scientist to drive discovery and characterization of cardiometabolic drug candidates. You will develop biochemical and cell-based assays in relevant systems to evaluate therapeutic candidates across cardio-metabolic areas.

You will design independent experiments, support project lead finding through optimization, and contribute to mechanistic studies of receptor signaling and protein interactions to shape candidate profiles.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of hands-on pharma/biotech research.
• Expert in mammalian cell culture and assays including cardiomyocytes.
• Experience with GPCR signaling and pharmacology characterization.
• CRISPR gene-editing and stable cell line generation experience.
• Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute experiments independently; troubleshoot and analyze complex data.
• Drive screening efforts across projects using functional assays and technologies.
• Develop and validate novel assay platforms for receptor pharmacology and mechanism of action.
• Advance automation using robotics (Bravo, Tecan, Echo) to accelerate timelines.
• Collaborate across cross-functional teams and present findings to stakeholders.
